Tony Demanuele in Prix des Rencontres Internationales

Next Saturday, the Vincennes racetrack in Paris will host the annual Prix des Rencontres Internationales where 15 drivers hailing from different countries challenge each other in a ‘for sale’ race over the 2100m distance.

This year the Maltese representative will be Tony Demanuele who last season had finished 6th in the local champion driver classification.

Eligible to take part in this race are horses aged between 6 and 10 years that are offered for sale for a sum starting from €22,000. Last year the winner of this encounter was our champion driver Noel Baldacchino with the horse Puy de Sancy.

Demanuele has drawn number 14 Uroi de Nganda which at 6 years old is the youngest horse in the field. The race is the 7th one of the programme starting at 16:45.

As always the invitation by the French Trotting Association also incorporates the owner of the best French trotter of the previous year.  In 2013 this was Okilaibo and so his owner Joseph Seychell will also be going to Paris to be presented with a token to commemorate this event.

Demanuele and Seychell will be accompanied by the Chairman of the Malta Racing Club Dr Matthew Brincat who on Saturday will also be attending a meeting with the representatives of every country.

The Maltese delegation will return back to Malta on Sunday morning.
