It-Tazza l-Kbira - This Year's Race

Next Sunday this year’s Tazza l-Kbira competition enters its second stage with two semi finals that are being considered to be full of high quality Standardbreds that will be offering a great spectacle to all those present due to the fact that these two races are very well balanced.

Easter Sunday’s racing programme starts at 2:30 pm with the two semi finals taking off at 4:10 pm and 5:00 pm. 24 horses qualified from the 6 heats a fortnight ago but unfortunately one of these horses was declared a non runner as he was deceased after an accident. One mare and 22 horses – 11 French, 10 Swedish and two German – all of them with one goal that they make it with the last twelve horses that on Sunday 19th April will be vying to engrave their name in the history of the coveted Tazza l-Kbira.

The Tazza l-Kbira is the biggest honour of local harness racing and the level of the participating horses becomes evident from the start of this competition and even though without any doubt it’s the actual final that is most awaited but when you have two semi finals like those on Sunday’s card a big crowd is expected at the track.

The draws for the final as usual will be transmitted live on the horse racing programme Sal-Gister with the participation of the owners of the finalist horses.

On behalf of the Malta Racing Club Council, I would like to wish a Happy Easter to all Owners, Drivers and horse racing enthusiasts.
