Charles Camilleri in Mediterranean Championship 3rd Leg

Next Saturday evening Charles Camilleri will be representing our country in the 3rd leg of the Mediterranean Championship which will be raced at the French racetrack of Cagnes-sur-Mer.


This will be the 3rd race of the programme starting at 21:30 over 2700m with 20,000 euro in total prize money.


Although the starters are 11 it is only 6 that will be gaining points in this championship. Camilleri has number 2 driving the 7 year old mare Vahrana du Hauty. She is owned and trained by Laurent Fresneau and has 5 career victories with a total of euro 102,540 in prize money and a record of 1'14"2.


The other 5 participating drivers are Matteo di Meo (Italy), Jean Paul Fasquelle (France), Bojan Kovacevic (Serbia), Cherif Safsaf (Algeria) and Jaime Fluxa Gomila (Spain).


42 year old Charles Camilleri has been champion driver 5 times in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2009 and 2014. This season he is currently occupying 3rd place with 23 victories.


The first leg of this championship was held in Malta on 31st March with Julian Farrugia winning one race and thus gaining the most points. The 2nd leg was held in Sicily on 29th June and Rodney Gatt also won a race and shared the same amount of points as Italian Matteo di Meo. As a country Malta is currently occupying first place with 20 points just 1 point ahead of Italy.
