It is with deep regret and profound sadness that we inform you of the passing of George Schembri 'il-Bubuna'. George also known as il-Bubuna' was for many years one of the top drivers in Malta and will be sorely missed by all Maltese horse racing enthusiasts. He will surely be remembered as a clean driver, determnined and respected by all those involved with Maltese Horse racing

The Malta Racing Club will observe a one minute silence in memory of George Schembri at this Friday's race meeting. During his horse racing career as a driver, George has won many honours and prestgous finals. Some of which listed below:

During his extensive racing career George Schembri had represented Malta on various occassion outside our shores and locally in various international races.  He was also elected to represent the Horse Owners and Drivers Association (HOADA) in 2009 and was several times the top horse racing driver in Malta, namely:1988-89
