Charles Camilleri finished fourth in the Prix des Rencontres Internationales du Trotteur Francais, an international autostart race held at Vincennes Racetrack in Paris yesterday. This international race was organised by the French Association Societé du Cheval Francais (SECF) and apart from French popular driver Jean Michel Bazire there was also the participation of drivers from countries with whom the SECF co-operates and works throughout the year.

THE RACE
Camilleri started with number 12 on the second line of the grid, driving French mare Quita du Noyer sired by the French popular stallion Ganymede. The race, run over the rather short distance of 2,100 metres, started saisfactory for the Maltese driver, but midway through the race horse number 2 Malix de la Mérité, driven by the Ukraine representative Vladimir Kushtal who was just in front of Charles, slowed down considerably, which meant that the mare had to be pulled back. At the turn for the home straight with 500 metres to go, Quita du Noyer was pushed to the limit by Camilleri, having to go seven wide on the outside. The mare did not disappoint as Camilleri passed one horse after the other finishing fourth overall but very close to third placed Master Perrine driven by the Swiss J.B. Matthey and second placed Peter Pan who was driven by the young Canadian driver Scott Zeron. The race was won by the pre race overall favourite Mark de Chamant driven by the Belgian driver G. Vergaerde.
